Unleash your inner strength, sculpt a more balanced you, and elevate your well-being with dynamic and invigorating fitness sessions at The Pilates Studio at New Motion.

A unique fitness haven for Bainbridge Islanders, classes at New Motion’s Pilates Studio are designed for anyone who is looking to increase their mobility and their physical fitness, with the added benefits of stress reduction and improved mental health.

There are two main pathways to Pilates at the studio – those who want to improve their physical well-being and those who have completed physical therapy and are ready to move into a reconstructive exercise program.

“Anyone can do Pilates,”says Arlene Harris, who manages New Motion’s Pilates programs. “Our classes are unique, not your average gym workout. We help you move in a safe yet challenging way that will benefit anyone.”

“We have people from late teens to 80 plus; it’s a big range. Many people work out multiple times a week and come to Pilates to enhance their strength and balance, enjoying everything Pilates provides,”Arlene continues.

“Pilates works well for clients ranging from high level athletes to those with a low tolerance to activity. For those who join from physical therapy, transitioning from PT to Pilates allows the continuation of further developing the improved or newly learned movement patterns to avoid reinjury. Pilates is also widely recognized for reducing chronic low back pain.”

The Pilates Studio at New Motion offers private and duet sessions, studio classes, and classes using a machine called the Reformer. The Reformer, Arlene explains, is a fitness machine with a sliding carriage and adjustable springs and straps, providing a highly versatile and targeted approach to Pilates exercises.

The Pilates Studio at New Motion is committed to high-quality movement and the Pilates principles of control, concentration, centering, precision, breath, and flow of exercises,

With classes suitable for everyone and every “body,” Arlene highlights the multiple benefits of practicing Pilates. “It’s a great way to work on your core, promoting strength and balance that applies to every aspect of your life — strength, balance, posture, conditioning, mindfulness, well-being. It’s great for all that.’”
