New Motion offers a number of exercise classes outside of the realm of Pilates taught by our Physical Therapists
and other skilled instructors.
Class Descriptions
Body Tone
Integrate with Mat Pilates core work to provide a safe base for exercise movement. We'll incorporate body/free weight exercises as well and finish with a yoga cool down! (Int)
Get Your Pilates Up and Moving (non-impact aerobic dance)
Somatic-based movement to fun music is a non-impact and safe aerobic workout. Take your shoes off (or not) and Boogie! (all levels)
Osteoporosis Exercise
This class has site specific weight-bearing exercise to help maintain and improve bone density as well as improve balance, strength, and posture to prevent falls/fractures. This is a fun class that will keep you tall and on your feet! (all levels)
Gyrokinesis™
Join Abby Rappoport for a Gyrokinesis™ movement class using a stool and a mat. It is an original and unique method, which coordinates movement, breath, and mental focus. Prepare to stimulate the nervous system, and create functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. Walk away enjoying an increased range of motion and more energy. (Not appropriate for osteoporosis)
Qi Gong
Similar to Tai Chi, but with a focus on healing rather than martial art. Qi Gong is the practice of applying life force energy ("Qis") to promote healing and wellness. It stimulates the body's healing potential by strengthening and regulating the body's internal organs, nervous system, and immune system. Flowing movements make Qi Gong easy on the joints and centering to the mind. (Beg/Int and Int class - see schedule for different days)
Class Schedules
Some of these classes are currently not being held due to the governor's directive; however, some are now offered live online here. In-studio classes will resume when Phase 3 is authorized for Kitsap County.
Signing Up
These classes are usually held in the Lower Studio on a drop-in basis. We hope to resume them in-studio as soon as Kitsap County enters Phase 3 for COVID-19 protocols.
